WILD GREEN ENERGY FOR YOUR BODY AND SOUL



Now is the time at the Northern Hemisphere when the nature is flourishing bright green and this is the time when we can also fully enjoy the nature's bounty. I think that green drinks are a great way to kick-start a new day and also many yogic scriptures encourage people to enjoy green juices and smoothies.


Right now you can also add some real wild green energy to your body by simply collecting the commonly so annoying garden weeds like stinging nettle and dandelion from your own garden or some clean place near your home. Actually these weeds can be very beneficial for the human body.

Nettle leafs contain high levels of protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, beta-carotene and high amounts of the vitamins A, C, D, and B complex. Nettle is an excellent dietary supplement because it has rich, diverse and balanced range of nutrients that are essential to the human body. Actually if you don't get some important nutrient enough through your normal dietary intake, you can ensure it by eating nettles.

In traditional Chinese medicine, among others, dandelion is used to support liver health, nourish bones and joints, and stimulate urinary function to promote cleansing.Nutritionally, dandelion contains calcium potassium, zinc, and vitamins A, B, C, and D. Moreover clinical inquiries have found that dandelion is full of natural, health-promoting compounds including alkaloids, steroids, and triterpenoids.

So, after picking you can just wash well the dandelion leaves with hot and cold water and then add them to your mixer. When picking Nettle leaves you should use gloves and cut them with scissors, then just wash and parboil few minutes before adding to your green smoothie.

You can mix these vitamin rich greens with one banana, one apple, half a squeezed lemon and cover them all with fresh water, mix few minutes and enjoy. 

In case you live in a big city or in a site that does not offer these weeds that are actually so healthy for us, you can always buy fresh spinach leaves or some kale and use them instead to prepare your green power smoothies. Also remember always to pick your weeds only from clean and natural places.

 It is best to enjoy your green smoothie on an empty stomach, start with one glass and slowly you can add up to half a jug or as much as you need to feel the amazing effects of your green, energizing superfood drink. Remember to recycle the greens so that you don't use one variety more than few months in a row.
